A Family Tradition at Rancho de los Caballeros
For as long as I can remember, Rancho de los Caballeros has been a cherished destination for my family. This beautiful guest ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona, has been a part of our lives for generations. My mother and I have countless fond memories of our stays, and now, I’ve continued the tradition with my own family.
Our most recent visit to the ranch this past February was particularly special as it was my "baby moon"—a final getaway before the arrival of our new addition.

What is Rancho de los Caballeros?
Rancho de los Caballeros is not just a family resort; it's also one of the best dude ranches in America. This resort ranch offers a unique blend of luxury and adventure, making it an amazing travel destination. Whether you're looking for things to do in Wickenburg or simply want to relax and enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather, this guest ranch has something for everyone.
Dining
The buffet-style meals for breakfast and lunch were perfect for our family. It's always nice to have a variety of hot and cold options to please everyone, especially when traveling with kids.
The convenience and quality of the food made our stay even more enjoyable. Dinner often felt like a special event. There’s a fine dining restaurant and the occasional cookouts and barbecues add to the charm.
The Scenery
One of the things we love most about Rancho de los Caballeros is the breathtaking beauty of the grounds. Walking the paths through the casitas to the dining hall or stables was always a delight. My son, Crew had so much fun exploring the unique rocks, cacti, and foliage that are so different from what we see back home in Iowa.
Activities and Entertainment
Archery and Axe Throwing: One of the highlights was trying out the new archery and axe-throwing activities. We had an absolute blast, and I even managed to hit a bullseye with my first axe throw—a surprising feat considering I'm not usually much of an athlete!
Horseback Riding: While I couldn't go horseback riding due to my pregnancy, my sister, mom, and husband had a fantastic time on the trail rides through the mountains. It was particularly special to see my little one, Crew, on a horse for the first time at just one year old. The staff was incredibly helpful and made sure it was a comfortable experience for him.
Evening Entertainment: Most nights, we enjoyed live music in the bar or "saloon." The lively atmosphere added a great touch to our evenings, making each night a little different and always entertaining.
Kids Club: The resort has a kids’ club that includes hiking, scavenger hunts, and movie nights. Although Crew isn't old enough for the kids' program yet, we're looking forward to him joining in the fun when he's older.
More Activities: The ranch offers so many activities that there's something for everyone. We enjoyed the tennis courts and golf course, with their stunning mountain views, and spent relaxing moments playing pool, chess, or cards in the lobby/lounge area. There’s also a full-service spa if you want to feel rejuvenated.
Lodging
Our room, the Maricopa Suite, was wonderfully spacious and beautifully decorated. The rustic open concept suite was 750ft² and featured a fireplace, a wet bar, and a jetted spa tub.
Although I didn't get a chance to take pictures of my own, it's definitely worth mentioning for anyone considering a stay. The comfort and elegance of the room made it a perfect retreat after our busy days.
